Garlic Will Keep Your Heart Healthy

Since most of the medications that are prescribed by doctors have so many side effects, many people who have cardiovascular problems prefer to use garlic to treat their high blood pressure and high cholesterol instead.

It has been proven to be the most effective when it is eaten consistently for at least four weeks. But this improvement will reverse if a person stops eating it.

How to Grow Garlic

One garlic bulb will provide at least seven or eight new garlic plants in about eight weeks if they are planted in the spring.

Some people prefer to plant them in the fall though because it helps the garlic plants focus on increasing their root system, so the bulbs get bigger.

Follow these 7 easy steps, to learn how to grow garlic from your home:

  1. Divide several garlic bulbs, so you have individual cloves to work with. Don’t remove the papery husks from them.
  2. Soak the garlic cloves in a jar filled with water that has a tablespoon of baking soda added to it for two hours. This will help prevent the cloves from getting fungus while they grow.
  3. Drain the cloves, but don’t rinse them.
  4. Plant the cloves with the flat bottom of them pointing down.
  5. Water the garlic sparingly.
  6. Once the green shoots are several inches tall, cut them back. This will encourage the bulbs to grow larger.
  7. The garlic is ready to pull up after it has at least six leaves growing from it.
