Another man tries to climb the NY Times Building

I saw this story and thought it was very interesting.

NEW YORK (AP) — A man climbed part way up The New York Times' 52-story headquarters early Wednesday, becoming the third person to scale the skyscraper in less than five weeks.

The climber, identified by police as David Malone, made it to the 11th floor of the mid-Manhattan building before descending to a lower level where he spent hours making cell phone calls and talking to police. He was arrested about 5:30 a.m., police said.

At one point, the climber unfurled a banner on the "T" of the Times' sign that referred to Osama bin Laden, police said. Malone is the author of a book, "Bin Laden's Plan," that argues that Sept. 11 was part of a plot by al-Qaida to provoke the U.S. into invading Iraq, according to a book summary at Amazon.com.

Malone, 29, said news reports about the earlier climbs had inspired him to get publicity for his crusade against al-Qaida, and said those reports also provided him with a roadmap on how to do it, according to police.

Here is a pretty cool video I found on youtube of one of the first guys that scaled the building. It is truely unbelievable.

I guess thats one way to get attention. The video of the man climbing the building is insane. I would have flaked out after about the first ten feet.

I can't believe that people actually do that! Talk about crazy. Seriously, where are their heads when they decide to take such a risk?

Well at least someone is crusading against Al-Qaida, seeing as the current president has turned his eyes and thoughts from the matter.

I think you have to be more than a little crazy to even attempt a 'stunt' like that. All these copycats want it seems, is the opportunity to be in the public's eye.

I'm scared of heights so I really don't understand why anyone would find this kind of a stunt remotely attractive. He did get the publicity he was after.
