Finding whats wrong |

How many people even if you only do it sometimes end up going online feeling they are sick and trying to self diagnose? I hear that doctors don't like this, but sometimes I also hear that its better to at least show an interest that maybe something is wrong with you, without going overboard. |

I do it myself yes, and have found that it has been hugely helpful when going to the doctor. My doctor has always appreciated proactive patients, and so it is well tolerated. |

I do this as well. My doctor seems to appreciate it also. He is a young doctor though, maybe that makes a difference. Older doctors I believe tend to think of themselves as "all powerful". I have also heard stories of people who were not content with what the doctor said and ended up finding out what was really wrong and thus saving their life. |

My doctor tries to explain what's happening to me in great detail. He appreciates when I take an interest in my own health and checks out things. |

I do as well. I think it is important to be a player in the management of your health. So long as you are not going in saying, "I have X, prescribe Y to me", then I think most docs are open to it. |

The medical profession is becoming more open to patients who make an effort to understand before talking to the doctor. From the old doctor's side of it though. I do know people who were convinced they had some condition that they did not and drove their poor doctor to distraction over it. I don't tell my doctor his job. I approach him with what I've learned asking his opinion. We get along just fine. |

I agree it is helpful. These days there are a lot of Dr.'s that pay little attention to declarations of woe and if you do not do your homework you could very well be risking you life. |

I think it is helpful, but there is also the posibility of mis diagnosing your self, or even becoming paranoid. |

I do this as well. I see nothing wrong with this. Taking a interest in your health is a good idea. |
