As I was reading the sample of Metamucil I received in the mail for their new pink lemonade flavor I notice it says to add to 8oz+ water and be sure to drink adequate water as well to keep from choking. How much water do you need to consume with a fiber product?

You just want to make sure that the fiber does not collect in your airways as they designed to expand. So it is more about drinking enough to make sure you thoroughly wash it all down.

Something like that would really worry me. I try to get my fiber in my diet so I don't have to take it in a supplement. They also make tablets that you can chew instead. I'm pretty sure you still need to drink a lot of water though.

I was told that most veggies will help with this process needed sometimes when people get "backed up". How many veggies are needed a week to do this, or a day?

All fiber products tell you to drink a lot of water when you take them. The water is good to get the fiber started but you should drink a lot because fiber tends to expand and the product should be as far away from your throat as possible. Drink the water but don't worry too much about choking.

My husband had a couple really bad episodes with Diverticulitis last Fall. He was hospitalized twice for this. We thought he would end up having colon surgery but his doctor decided to try letting him control it with removing certain foods from his diet and taking fiber supplements everyday. It has been amazing how much of a difference this has made for him! He has also always been a big water drinker and hopefully can avoid surgery thanks to those fiber pills.

we use benefiber in everything we cook.
Its much better than metamucil and you can boost up teh fiber of everything to also lower teh carb ratio.

Its tasteless and doent need to add anything extra or even have cause to think its going to get stuck.

benefiber has a website and if you add to everything you eat you get more fiber closer to RDA than with taking tablets or powder in a drink or pill form.
