Reiki as alternative healing power

Reiki means healing by touch . I sometimes suffer from some sort of infection . Infection means unbearable pain . Though i will take medicine the pain will be unberable than I will phome my guru.
He will pray for me and ask me to touch with my hand the affected area . I can vouch the pain is reduced a lot for me

My ex-husband used to have those kind of healing powers by touch. He use to be able to take my headaches away, take the colic away from the babies. He then would suffer the ailment for a short period of time and that was that. Never ceased to amaze me.

Is reiki the same thing that evangelical preachers do at their healing meetings? I see them doing this all the time and many people swear by them.

So how does reiki work? Can anybody do it or is it some sort of gift from god you're given? Because if it is something you can produce through out your life, I'd like to do so.

I think this is a facinating method to use. I am not completely familiar with it and know that there is a lot involved that makes it work. But for me ultimately I think it is mind over matter. If you truly believe it will work and want it to work than most likely it will.

Although I believe in God, faith and the gift of healing, sometimes I rfeally wonder about some of the claims of healing I hear about or see on TV. I agree with Simplyme that the mind is indeed a powerful tool in these healings.
