This will depend a great deal on the severity of the asthma. I have very minor asthma and except when I get a chest cold I do not use a puffer. Hops have been shown to have a beneficial effect on asthma however I don't recommend you start having your kids suck down beer. Hops tea is available but they likely will not like the stuff. I don't. Limited amounts of caffeine have also shown some benefit. Again I would be very cautious with that. I am sure there is more info out there.

One thing you can do is make sure their environment is as clean as it can be. Hepa filters might be of some help
